Hall of Fame
Introduction
The University of Bristol Archery Hall of Fame was founded by Steve Williams as one of his first acts as Captain during the 2015/16 season. The desire was to honour a special band of club members who had gone above and beyond in service to the club; and to whom the club is eternally in their debt.
At the Awards Ceremony toward the end of each year, the Captain-Elect for the following year is granted the option of inducting members into the Hall of Fame if they believe they are truly deserving of this honour. There is no limit to the number of members a Captain-Elect can induct (although each Captain-Elect only has the one chance to make inductions) but similarly, there is no requirement to induct anyone.
There is no set definition on what makes a person eligible for entry into the Hall of Fame. However, when founding it, Steve Williams declared that being a Captain, or long serving committee member, etc. would not be good enough on it's own to guarantee induction; neither would not having been on the committee, automatically exclude someone from being considered. Instead, a Captain should ensure that each induction only strengthens the honour, and must never allow an inductee to devalue or otherwise weaken the honour. As such, it is recommended that future Captains should choose to induct nobody rather than induct someone not worthy of the honour.
Being inducted into the Hall of Fame is the highest honour the club can bestow upon any of it's members.

Class of 2019/20
Chosen and inducted by 2020/21 Captain; Will Black
Jamie DiepJamie joined the club as a novice in 2016 and quickly proved to be a very talented archer, claiming multiple novice club records. In 2017, he began his first year on the committee as club secretary. His success in this role led to Jamie being elected as club captain for the 2018/19 academic year. As captain, Jamie worked hard to build the reputation of the archery club, laying the foundations for the clubs drive to become a performance sport. In his final year, Jamie continued his committee work as the club's Competition Officer, during which time he successfully led the hosting of BUCS southern qualifiers in Bristol. Jamie has had a major impact on the success of the club in the past few years. Thank you for everything you've done for this club and its members! |
Class of 2016/17

Stephen Williams
Steve Williams, UoB Archery's 2nd Captain, made an incredible job of balancing his PhD and running our club. Steve brought BUCS to Bristol, founded the Performance Development Squad, Alumni association and Hall of Fame. Steve contributed much to our club constitution and kick start status. Due to Steve's watchful eye we made incredible progress in our leagues. He will be one tough act to follow, thank-you for all you've done Captain Steve. |
Class of 2015/16
Chosen and inducted by 2016/17 Captain; Steve Williams.
Rebecca Packwood
Rebecca "Rebs" Packwood was the founding President of the (then) Archery Society. In this role she liaised with local clubs, the SU and other University employees, and through tireless perseverance, ensured the club successfully completed it's first year of existence. Without her the club would not exist. |
David Hewett
At various times David held the roles of Treasurer, (2nd/final President) & (1st) Captain. His biggest achievement was overseeing the move from Kingsdown Leisure Centre to Coombe Dingle Sports Complex; this allowed the club to go from having a session once per two weeks, to having 2 sessions per week. Additionally, David contributed to both the constitution rewrite & obtaining Kick Start status for the first time. |
