2019/20 Committee

Picture

Callum McDonnell

Captain

Year: 3

Course: Aerospace Engineering

Goal for the year: Not to visit a triangle club for the entire year (also develop our compound and longbow teams)

Have been shooting Recurve for several years now, but the only things that have really changed since coming to Bristol are how much kit I have and how much I hate FirstBus. Feel free to ask me anything about the club (but don't ask me why Sunday training starts at 8am, I don't like waking up at 6:30am either)

Matthew Davy

Treasurer

Year: 3

Course: Chemistry PhD

Goal for the year: Beat my two year old novice PB

I’m a Chemistry PhD student studying NMR spectroscopy (putting small objects in big magnets and subjecting them to radiowaves!). I’ve been shooting for three years and own as many bows (a recurve, a longbow and a horsebow) which has probably not done wonders for my accuracy with any of them. As treasurer I’m in charge of both the clubs finances and chasing people down about membership, session fees etc…

William Black

Secretary

Year: 2

Course: Electrical & Electronic Engineering

Goal for the year: The elusive purple badge!

I have been doing archery for about 2/3 years. On joining UoB I betrayed the dark art that is bare-bow for the superior Recurve style. Here to serve all your record keeping and admin needs. Big supporter of the archery pub trips (or any excuse to go to the pub, to be honest).

Sophie Brain

Development Officer

Year: 3

Course: Physics

Goal for the year: finally finish my L2 coaching course

Archery has been a big part of my life for the last 8 years, both shooting and coaching. If not on the range or crying over Physics, you'll find me baking/curled up with a good book. Feel free to ask me for advice or coaching!

Picture

George Overton

Co-Equipment Officer

Year: 2

Course: Mechanical Engineering

Goal for the year: 2 words; horseback archery

I’m the equipment officer for the society. I've been shooting for the last year, having picked it up in my first year to substitute my kung fu club in London. I care less about scores and more about fun and the many mental benefits of archery. So come have a chat of you want to try something a little more out there, there's a good chance I'll know a little more than most.

Picture

Pusint Liamtrakoolpanich

Co-Equipment Officer

Year: 2

Course: Law

Goal for the year: Winning the lottery

Buoyant, waggish, efficacious, indefatigable, demiurgic, convivial marketing companion, self-made thousandaire

Picture

Kellie Pettinger

Co-Social Secretary

Year: 4

Course: MRes Pharmacology and Neuroscience

Goal for the year: Get the Gold Badge and increase bow poundage

Easy going gal that loves all things spooky and weird, dying her hair bright colours, and enjoys running and reading.

Picture

Olly Harris

Co-Social Secretary

Year: 4th

Course: Physics

Goal for the year: Throw some kickass ass socials and shoot a decent score…

Hey I’m Olly, I’ve been shooting barebow for just over a year now so I’m still fairly new. I quite enjoy cooking and I’m always down for a pint at the pub. Hit me up if you have any suggestions for socials!

Picture

Jamie Diep

Competitions Officer

Year: 4

Course: Physics

Goal for the year: To always be my best so I don't need to try hard at competitions .
I mainly shoot the freestyle/olympic recurve bow style and have been since my first year at university. My bow, Journey, has a colour scheme of black and matte grey with some colour of string (currently fluorescent yellow!). When I'm not 'arching', I should probably be doing my uni work and not watching things and looking at meta memes; being an old fourth year that needs to salvage a degree! Nevertheless, when I'm not working I am... Doing archery?
